49ers Cornerback DeMordore Lenoir Arrested in Los Angeles on Legal Charges

On Thursday night, a member of the San Francisco 49ers was taken into custody on suspicion of obstructing police, according to an announcement from the Los Angeles Police Department. Officers stopped a group that included Lenoir near West Vernon Avenue and South Wilton Place, where they noticed a gun inside a parked vehicle. When officers requested the car keys, one person in the group tossed them to Lenoir, who then passed the keys to someone else.

The 25-year-old Lenoir was held overnight and released early Friday morning. He is scheduled to face court in July and is a Los Angeles native. The 49ers have yet to release any comments about the incident.

Lenoir, now in his fourth NFL season, secured a five-year, $92 million contract extension with the 49ers last November. He was the fifth pick from Oregon in the 2017 draft (172nd overall). Last season, Lenoir switched to the slot position, recording two interceptions and a career-high 85 tackles in 15 games. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 41st best cornerback in the NFL. Over his career, he has six interceptions, defended 265 tackles, and broken up 26 passes.

The 49ers are set to begin training camp on July 22 and will conduct joint practice sessions with the Denver Broncos ahead of their preseason opener at Levi’s Stadium on August 7. The team will kick off the 2025-26 NFL season against the Seattle Seahawks on September 7.

Fan Take: This incident involving Lenoir is significant for NFL fans as it brings attention to the off-field challenges players sometimes face, which can impact team dynamics and performance. It’s a reminder of the pressures athletes manage beyond the game and could influence how teams support their players moving forward.
