Star forward Kylian Mbappé is set to make his debut in the Club World Cup when Real Madrid squares off against Juventus in the Round of 16 on Tuesday, according to coach Xabi Alonso. "I’m not sure of all the details, but there’s a strong chance he will be available at Hard Rock Stadium," Alonso remarked regarding Mbappé’s potential return.

Mbappé was sidelined due to a gastrointestinal illness prior to Real Madrid’s first match in the tournament and had to receive hospital treatment. As a result, he missed all three group stage games, where Madrid recorded two wins and one draw.

His comeback is highly anticipated, especially following the exit of Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in the first knockout round against Mbappé’s former team, Paris Saint-Germain. Alonso also confirmed that captain Dani Carvajal and defender Éder Militão will start on Tuesday, alongside new signings Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huygen, who have become essential to the team’s defense.

Carvajal has been out of action since undergoing ACL surgery last fall but expressed satisfaction about being back: "I’m very happy to contribute from the bench as my manager sees fit," he stated during Monday’s training at Real Madrid’s facility in Palm Beach Gardens.

Report by Associated Press.

Fan Take: This news is significant for soccer enthusiasts as Mbappé’s return adds a thrilling dynamic to the tournament, intensifying competition. His performance could also set the tone for future star appearances, enhancing the overall appeal of the sport.
