Jake Paul’s ambition to become a world champion in boxing appears increasingly attainable. The former social media personality and Disney Channel actor is now a professional boxer and has officially entered the rankings. Following his recent win against former WBC middleweight champion Giulio Cesar Chavez Jr., the World Boxing Association (WBA) placed Paul at 14th in their rankings. The WBA has indicated they are open to advancing his rank should he continue to succeed. With a record of 12-1 and 7 knockouts, Paul is now eligible to challenge the WBA cruiserweight champion, Gilbert “Zurdo” Ramirez.

In his recent fight, Paul steadily outperformed Chavez, who is 11 years his senior, dominating almost the entire match except for a strong ninth round by Chavez. The judges’ final scores favored Paul with 99-91, 97-93, and 98-92. Paul’s professional journey began before fighters like Craig Parker (20-0, 2 KOs) who recently fought as a heavyweight, and Giovanni Christian Scudelli (12-0, 5 KOs), who returned to the division after a three-year hiatus. Paul has also openly challenged fighters like Ramirez, WBC cruiserweight champion Budowjack, and is eyeing matches with big names such as Gervonta Davis and Anthony Joshua, aiming for high-profile bouts.

Fan Take: Jake Paul’s rise in professional boxing highlights the sport’s evolving landscape, where crossover stars can make a significant impact. This development could attract new audiences and fresh energy to boxing, potentially reshaping how future matchups and promotions unfold in the sport.
