Djokovic cancels Wimbledon practice ahead of the semi-finals and sinners

Wimbledon, England — Novak Djokovic cancelled an afternoon practice session at Wimbledon on Thursday.

Faced with No. 1 Janic Thinner in Friday’s semi-finals, Djokovic, 38, fell into his second match point against 22-seeded Flavio Koboli. He then advanced by scoring the next two points.

The 24 Grand Slam champion practice sessions at Aorangi Park in Wimbledon were scheduled for 1-3pm.

Djokovic has the option to reschedule practice times.

The sinner similarly canceled his own practice session a day after he injured his right elbow during his fourth victory over Grigor Dimitrov. He then went outside and defeated No. 10 Ben Shelton on a straight set on Wednesday.

Djokovic described his fall as “a nasty fall. It was very nasty.”

“Obviously, (my) body is not the same today as before, so I’m guessing the real impact and effect of what happened tomorrow,” he told reporters on Wednesday. “So let’s take a look. I hope that what’s going on in the courtroom and what happened isn’t too bad. I can be in the best of two days and painless.”

Djokovic has been dealing with other injuries in recent years. He retreated before the quarterfinals of the 2024 French Open due to a knee injury that required surgery.

Djokovic was also stopped during his semi-final match at the Australian Open in January this year after a hamstring muscle was torn apart.

The Serbs have finished runner-up at Wimbledon for the past two years, losing both time to Carlos Alcaraz. Prior to that, he had won four consecutive titles at the All England Club. He won his first Wimbledon title in 2011.

Djokovic stopped two plays at Wimbledon. In 2017, he was in the quarter-final match against Thomas Berdic due to an elbow injury. In 2007, he was in the semi-final match against Rafael Nadal due to a foot problem.
