Xabi Alonso has indicated their intention to enhance the team following Real Madrid’s stark 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semi-finals.

“We haven’t discussed this during the Club World Cup, but we should look to make improvements going forward,” stated the Madrid manager. “Our goal is continuous improvement, and there’s plenty of potential for growth.”

Meanwhile, Luka Modric’s remarkable career at Real Madrid concluded with a disappointing finale, yet his influence as a Croatian superstar extends well beyond a single match.

The 39-year-old, a 2018 Ballon d’Or winner and the most celebrated player in the club’s history, is set to join AC Milan after playing his last match for Madrid at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2012, Modric has made 597 appearances and collected 28 trophies, including six Champions League titles.

“This is not the ending anyone wished for—it’s quite disheartening. However, his legacy is defined by so many great games, not just this one,” Alonso, who played alongside Modric during his time at Real, remarked to reporters on Wednesday.

Thibaut Courtois, the Madrid goalkeeper, noted the void Modric will leave behind.

“Modric always receives a standing ovation. He’s an exceptional player and teammate, and he will surely be missed,” said the Belgian.

Fan Take: This news resonates deeply with soccer fans as it signifies the end of an era for Real Madrid, with Luka Modric leaving behind an unparalleled legacy. His departure not only impacts the club’s future but also marks a pivotal moment in football history, as true legends like him redefine the sport’s landscape.
