Chelsea Approves Noni Madueke’s Medical at Arsenal Ahead of Club World Cup Final

Chelsea forward Noni Madueke is set to undergo medical treatment with local rivals Arsenal after both clubs reached an agreement on a £52 million transfer on Thursday. The 23-year-old had already secured a five-year contract with the Gunners prior to the finalization of his move.

Madueke will leave the US national camp to prepare for the Club World Cup match against Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, returning to the UK on Friday for his medical check-up with the North London side. According to Givemesport’s Ben Jacobs, he won’t be back in the US due to the scheduling conflict with the match against the French team.

Madueke is the second player to swap Stamford Bridge for Holloway this month, following goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who made a £5 million switch on July 1. The former PSV Eindhoven star, who joined Chelsea in 2023 for £33 million, has made 92 appearances, netting 20 goals and providing nine assists. Unfortunately, Chelsea experienced a challenging season, finishing sixth and fourth in their past two Premier League campaigns.

This summer, Chelsea began positively in the current tournament, winning two out of their three group stage matches. They have since secured convincing victories against Benfica, Palmeiras, and Fluminense to reach Sunday’s final.

Now joining Arsenal, Madueke adds depth to a squad that has been on the brink of the Premier League title, securing second place in the league for the past three seasons. Mikel Arteta’s side has also made significant strides in the UEFA Champions League, reaching the quarterfinals in 2024 and semifinals in 2025.

Fan Take: This transfer is significant for fans as it strengthens Arsenal’s title aspirations while showcasing the fierce competition in the Premier League. Madueke’s move not only boosts Arsenal’s attacking options but could redefine the dynamics of rivalries, intensifying the excitement around the upcoming season.
