WNBA Sensation Angel Reese Makes Triumphant Return to Unrivaled to Defend Her Championship Title

WNBA star Angel Reese is making her return to the Miami-based 3-on-3 league, Unrivaled. After initially deciding not to participate, Reese will come back for a second season and rejoin Rose BC, the team she helped secure the league’s first-ever championship.

Last season, Reese earned Defensive Player of the Year honors and made history by posting the league’s first 20-point, 20-rebound game in a matchup against the Lunar Owls. Rose BC guard Carlea Copper expressed her excitement about Reese’s return in a TikTok video, joking about Reese’s recent purchases from Australia and playfully asking Copper to mail her a Rose jersey.

Reese’s move back to Rose BC was facilitated by a rare three-way trade, only the second of its kind in the league’s history. This trade sent Vinyl BC guard Courtney Williams to Brees BC, Hibs BC guard Saniyah Rivers to Vinyl, and Rose BC forward Azura Stevens to Hibs. However, the details do not clarify if Rose BC gained another player in exchange for Reese or what Brees BC gave up for Williams.

Reese is set to make her second-season debut on Friday, February 20, right after the league’s 1-on-1 tournament. Rose BC’s game will be broadcast on Hive on TNT and truTV at 8:45 p.m. ET, with streaming available on HBO Max.

Fan Take: Angel Reese returning to defend her title highlights the growing excitement and talent in women’s basketball beyond the WNBA. Her presence in Unrivaled not only raises the profile of the league but also underscores the increasing opportunities for female athletes to showcase their skills on diverse platforms.
