China’s Wang Ziing won her first Grand Slam title in a women’s wheelchair single by beating Japan’s top seed Yuikamiji 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday at Wimbledon.
Wang lost eight of his last nine matches against Kamiji, who has 10 major titles in singles, and was about to complete a career grand slam in his first championship at Wimbledon.
However, after a marathon game that went to Deuce nine times, King converted the fifth set point in the first set, and scored the victory with the first match point when Kamiji netted the backhand.
In the men’s wheelchair doubles final, Spain’s second seed, Dutch Reuben Spargallen, won his first Wimbledon title by beating top-seeded British duo Alfie Hewette and Gordon Reed 7-6 (1), 7-5.
Hewett and Reid won six Wimbledon Doubles titles, including the last two.
