76ers’ Paul George Undergoes Arthroscopic Surgery as Knee Health Gets a Close Look Ahead of Training Camp

Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee following an injury sustained during recent training, the team announced. The procedure was performed by Dr. Jonathan L. Glashow at the NYU-Langone Sports Medicine Orthopedic Center. George has started a rehab program and will be assessed again before the training camp begins.

At 35 years old, George signed a four-year deal worth $211 million with the 76ers last summer. In his debut season with the team, he averaged 16.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.3 assists over 41 games, marking his lowest scoring average since the 2014-15 season when he only played six games. Late in the season, the 76ers sidelined George due to ongoing issues, which included injections to his left adductor and knee; ESPN revealed that he took five consecutive painkiller injections before the NBA All-Star break. Throughout the season, George battled various injuries affecting his groin, finger, and knee.

The 76ers struggled with a 24-58 record, with George missing over half the season and star center Joel Embiid appearing in just 19 games. They finished 13th in the Eastern Conference but benefited from a favorable outcome in the NBA Draft lottery, securing the No. 3 pick.

Fan Take: This update on Paul George is crucial for fans tracking the 76ers’ hopes to bounce back next season. His recovery and performance will be vital not only for the team’s success but also in shaping the competitive landscape of the Eastern Conference moving forward.
