Caitlyn Clark Shares Candid Thoughts on the Boston Celtics: “It’s Okay to Hate Them…”

Kate Linklark recently shared her genuine thoughts on the Boston Celtics as she reached a new career milestone during the Indiana Fever’s away game against the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. This game was special because, for the first time, it was held in Boston at the renowned TD Garden, instead of the Sun’s regular home venue, the Mohegan Sun Arena.

The WNBA team has historically changed venues when Clark and the Fever visit, to accommodate larger audiences. However, this marked Clark’s inaugural chance to play on the Celtics’ home court.

Prior to the game, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year expressed her excitement about this moment and gave an honest appraisal of the Celtics. She said, “This is truly my first time in Boston. As a basketball fan, you naturally admire the Celtics. They are one of the NBA’s best organizations, having won the championship just two years ago.”

Clark acknowledged the Celtics’ history and their record 18 NBA titles, highlighting how meaningful it was for her to play at TD Garden. She also talked about how Boston fans, despite the city lacking a WNBA team, have shown great support for the league. “It’s a fantastic chance for locals to get behind the women’s game,” she said, recalling the energetic crowd from last year and hoping for a similar atmosphere.

For Clark, playing in a new arena is always a fun experience, and she looked forward to enjoying the moment. Ultimately, though, the focus was on the Fever’s performance—they aimed to replicate their convincing 88-71 victory over the Sun back on June 17 at Gainsbridge Fieldhouse.

Fan Take: This milestone isn’t just significant for Kate Linklark but for the entire WNBA community. Holding games in iconic NBA venues like TD Garden helps raise the profile of women’s basketball and attracts new fans, signaling greater growth and recognition for the league.
