Paula Badosa faces a few weeks on sidelines after a new back injury

Paula Badosa said she will take action for several weeks due to another back injury, putting the world in 10th place in a race worthy of the US Open next month.

Spain’s former world number two has returned to the top ten this year after a series of injuries, including chronic lower back issues, resigned from her retirement.

Badosa lost a 6-2 3-6 6-4 to Katie Boulter earlier this month in the first round of Wimbledon, and in a statement Monday she said she shed tears on Psoas, the muscle that connects her lower waist to the upper leg.

“These are truly challenging times for me, but I continue to hope that things will change soon and the light at the end of the tunnel will begin to shine,” Badosa added that an injury had occurred before Wimbledon.

Badosa will play alongside Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Revamped Mixed Doubles event at the US Open, one week before the singles main draw from August 24th to September 7th.
