With the title top of mind of his 25th Grand Slam single, Novak Djokovic took his talent to the baseball mound on Thursday night.

He dumped the ceremonial first pitch at Yankee Stadium before the New York Yankees faced the Boston Red Sox. Djokovic wore white sleeves on his right arm when he delivered the pitch to Yankees catcher Austin Wells.

Djokovic’s pitch reached the plate but hit the dirt just before Wells controlled it.

Djokovic also posed with shortstop Anthony Volpe and Wells while he was in the Diamonds, Yankees star Judge Aaron. He gave the judge a tennis racket, and the judge offered an autographed baseball bat in return.

Djokovic, a native of Serbia, is in the Big Apple, the US Open, which begins Sunday at the USTA National Tennis Centre. No. 7 seed Djokovic faces learner Tien on his first day at Arthur Ash Stadium.

The 38-year-old has won four US Open titles. His final came in 2023 when he tied the Margaret Court record for the most Grand Slam singles title.
