Manchester United are interested in signing Juventus midfielder Douglas Lewis during the summer transfer period.
According to Football Insider, they will also face a competition from Everton, who is also enthusiastic about Brazil international. However, Toffee wants to sign him on loan and is not going to commit to a permanent deal.
Man United could use Brazilians
Manchester United has accepted loan and acquisition deals for Brazilians and is currently ahead of Everton to sign him.
The 27-year-old is linked to his return to the UK, and Lewis could prove to be a useful acquisition of Manchester United. They need more quality and depth in the middle, and Lewis is well versed in Premier League football. He played best football at Aston Villa and could return to Peak format if he returned to England. Lewis was described as “world class” by John McGinn.
Lewis has also been linked to his return to Aston Villa.
Douglas Lewis needs a new start
Lewis has not been in his best form since joining the Italian club. Traveling from Juventus is ideal for all parties. Juventus can offload him and introduce substitutions, but the midfielder will benefit from a fresh start.
The move to Manchester United is perfectly timed for him. With the World Cup next year, he will be keen to establish himself as a key player for the Red Devils and push him into the setup of the Brazilian National team.
Signing a player of his quality on loan is an ideal move for Manchester United. It is a low-risk acquisition with significant potential benefits.
It remains to be seen whether Manchester United will be able to close the deal quickly. They are one of the largest clubs in the world and the opportunity to join them is extremely exciting for South America.
