Tottenham Hotspur is a “candidate” to sign “an incredible” defender, and now costs £50 million, reporter Pete O’Rourke revealed.
Spurs seeking to bolster defensive options
The Spurs completed the signature of West Ham United’s Winger Mohammed Kudus last week. The Ghanaians arrived at a rate of £55 million, but are also confident about sealing off the deal to attack Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbswhite.
It’s according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, he said: “They want to go ahead with the deal. They want to sign players. Nottingham Forest is ready to fight, so let’s see what happens there.
“But certainly there is a problem with the Gibbs White deal that needs to be resolved between the two clubs, which will be something to be seen in the next few hours.
Given that the Spurs had the fifth defensive record in the Premier League last season, they may turn their attention to strengthening the backline if the Spurs sign a Forest Star deal.

Speaking to a football insider, O’Rourke dropped the latest updates on one centre-back that centre-back Tottenham could target, says Burnley’s Maxim Estev: “Everton also showed a lot of interest in him. Now Tottenham is mentioned as a potential signature candidate if he leaves Burnley this summer.
“The Spurs tried to sign him in the January window when he was doing well. Burnley doesn’t want to lose Estev.
“I don’t think the Spurs will approach that level to try to sign Estev, but Burnley is in a really strong position to negotiate here. He has a contract until 2029 and can ask for a fair amount of fees for the contract – that price will probably scare most clubs.”
“Incredible” Estave was able to ease the Spurs’ defensive issues
At this stage, Burnley holds all his cards in negotiations, but there are clear indications that if the French defender pushes this summer’s move, he can help ease the Spurs’ defensive issues.
Surprisingly, Clarett shipped just 16 goals at Championship Enroute in promotion last season, with the French playing all the games. Meanwhile, he impressed manager Scott Parker.

The Spurs are taking an approach of signing another midfielder who has advanced for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs White.
Parker said: “First and foremost, he is a great child and an incredible expert. With only his general aura about him and the boy and his humility about his professionalism, everything about him is top, top boy, and of course he also sees his quality.”
That being said, £50 million is a huge fee to pay players who have not proven themselves at the Premier League level, and with Burnley in a strong negotiating position, it’s not surprising that Tottenham decides to move on to other targets.
