  • Dominique Shoboschlei’s outstanding performance at Liverpool this season
  • Liverpool manager Arne Slot needs to go back to basics

Liverpool started the 2025/2026 season under manager Arne Slot, but the inconsistency was notable despite the team remaining close to the top of the Premier League.

The recent defeats and a series of unconvincing performances have raised questions about the new tactical structure and the integration of summer contract players like Florian Wiltz and Alexander Isaac.

The defense in particular has revealed its fragility, and struggled with set pieces and counter attacks, in contrast to the solidity of the previous team, which won the title.

While the team faces these tactical crossroads and lack of control in the middle, one player who has overcome a collective struggle and has performed brilliantly is Dominique Shoboschlei.

Dominique Shoboschlei’s outstanding performance at Liverpool this season

The Hungarian midfielder is often praised for his high powers, but he has proven his immense value both offensive and defensively in the match.

His statistics show incredible effort and productivity during the test period. With pressure to resolve tactical imbalances rising into the slot, Shoboschrai’s constant performance is a critical glow of hope.

Shoboschrai’s excellent season statistics reveal that players are active at the top level and lead the team with multiple key metrics. His comprehensive contributions highlight him as Liverpool’s most influential midfielder so far.

The 24-year-old leads Liverpool with progressive passes (56), demonstrating his ability to advance the ball into constantly dangerous areas.

Furthermore, his aggressive will is shown by having the action that produces the most shots (33)

Importantly, this achievement coincides with his defensive work rate, with him boasting the most tackle acquisitions (15) and the most tackles and intercepts (25).

Shobo Schlei has advanced to the top recovery count (56) and third in the final (22), cementing his position as the perfect box-to-box midfielder that the team desperately needs.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot needs to go back to basics

The greatness of Shoboschrai’s personal achievements only reveals more of the current tactical issues.

Last season, mid-season cores of Shoboschlei, Ryan Graebenbirch and Alexis Mac Alistair provided the structure and energy that drives the title.

However, the arrival of record-settling Florian Wiltz and the tactical shift in Arne Slott seem to have disrupted this successful balance and made the defensive weaker.

Tweaking tactics has also had a noticeable impact on Mohamed Salah, who has been less involved in the match, a concern given his world-class pedigree.

Ironically, Salah praised the Dutch player for regaining stability last season, having achieved the highest individual performance ever under Slot’s coach.

However, recent changes have had the opposite effect, choking Liverpool’s most dangerous exit.

With three consecutive losses already set forth, Slots need to quickly rediscover the formula that made Liverpool this scary. Otherwise, you’ll have to risk seeing the season collapse before it reaches the midpoint.
