Liverpool central defender Ibrahima Konate reportedly refused the opportunity to discuss his move to Saudi Arabia.
France International is the final year of his contract at Anfield and is hovering for him as Real Madrid approaches free agent.
It added that Conate wanted to stay in Europe, so he’s sniffing the approach from an unknown Saudi club.
Konate has been a Liverpool star performer recently, and it would be a big blow for the Reds to lose such a key player for free.
Transfer from Ibrahima Conate to Real Madrid looks like something to see
There is growing talk of Real Madrid moving Conate because there is no new contract on the horizon.
Marca was one of the other shops that were strongly associated with the 26-year-old Spanish giant.
The Los Blancos look like they can do with Antonio Rudiger and Raul Asensio upgrades, but it will be interesting to see if the LFC wants current cash rather than risk losing anything of this key player in a year.
The Real also feels that Conate is sure to reject the move to Saudi Arabia.
Liverpool will surely need to replace Conate
Liverpool will be taking a big risk of letting Conate go right now, even if they don’t want to make sure they run through his contract and leave the free transfer.
Still, the Reds have already left for Bayer Lebakusen this summer, so they don’t take away the depths behind.
If Konate leaves, they will certainly need to invest serious money in their partner Virgil Van Dijk into a new centreback.
Alexander Isaac is also a top target for Liverpool, so according to Athletic, he may be able to afford to get this business all at once.
