Aprilia Unveils Insights from Jorge Martin’s Team Meeting Ahead of MotoGP Comeback at Brno

Aprilia shared insights from the Jorge Martin press conference held on Thursday evening during the MotoGP Czech Grand Prix, highlighting that he was “fully motivated” upon his return. The reigning world champion has not competed since his crash at the Qatar Grand Prix. He has now been cleared to race this weekend at the Czech Grand Prix, despite previously being involved in a contract dispute with Aprilia. This issue has since been resolved, with Martin confirming on Thursday that he will continue with Aprilia for a second year in 2026.

During the press conference, Martin stated that he had not apologized to his team because he stands by his decisions and believes they are in the best interest of his career. Aprilia’s team manager, Paolo Bonora, revealed that Martin held a meeting with the crew Thursday evening to discuss his future goals and emphasize the importance of matching his motivation. Bonora described Martin as “a perfect fit,” noting he was much more driven than during the Doha event and fully committed. To demonstrate this, Martin wanted to have a clear conversation with his garage team to share his goals and show that he is rejoining the championship with full passion and trust in his teammates, expecting the same energy in return—a move that was well-received by the mechanics and technicians.

Regarding the team’s objectives, Bonora mentioned that the focus is on competing at a high level and restoring the championship position Jorge Martin is known for. In practice at Brno, Martin finished 17th in the mixed FP1 session but had recorded times within the top five before a cancellation due to exceeding track limits. Reflecting on his session, Martin said it was a positive start, though he was cautious of a wet patch on the track and hoped conditions would improve.

Fan Take: This update is significant for racing enthusiasts because Jorge Martin’s return restores one of the sport’s top competitors, promising thrilling races ahead. His renewed commitment and resolved contract issues could mark a turning point for both his career and Aprilia’s championship prospects, adding excitement to the MotoGP season.
