Dual Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse marked a major milestone by achieving his 4,000th win in North America on July 17, 2025, becoming only the 14th trainer to reach this remarkable feat. Celebrating from Saratoga, Casse reflected on his long career with humor, acknowledging the many losses behind his victories and emphasizing the strong support he receives from his dedicated team, including his wife Tina and numerous assistants across the U.S. and Canada.

Casse shared insights into the challenges and rewards of his journey, highlighting the importance of teamwork and the loyalty of colleagues like Mitch Downs, who has been with him for 45 years. A native of Indianapolis, Casse’s passion for training began early, and his career highlights include winning two-thirds of the U.S. Triple Crown in 2019 with notable horses like Will’s War and Sir Winston, the latter of whom turned around a slow start to win the Belmont Stakes.

Throughout his career, Casse has trained numerous Breeders’ Cup winners and Canadian award-winning horses, including the celebrated Tepin, whose international success earned her top honors in his stable. Casse also credits key race venues like Woodbine for their role in his development as a trainer. His persistence and dedication are evident, as he continues to chase dreams such as winning the Kentucky Derby, despite setbacks.

Acknowledging the invaluable support of his wife Tina and his extensive team, Casse joked about retirement plans but remains focused on building his legacy both as a horse trainer and a great person. This milestone illustrates not just Casse’s enduring talent but also his impact on the sport over decades.
