Sophie Cunningham Delivers a Powerful Statement on Aliya Boston Following a Disappointing Performance

Sophie Cunningham delivered a powerful statement about Aliya Boston following her underwhelming original performance, as reported by Athlon Sports. The Indiana Fever seems to have found momentum with Kate Linklark in the lineup, securing their third straight win in the 2025 WNBA season. On Tuesday, the Fever defeated the Connecticut Sun 85-77 at Boston’s TD Garden, home court of the Celtics.

Boston struggled offensively, scoring only 11 points on a perfect but limited 8 attempts (25% shooting) and grabbing 6 rebounds, well below her season averages of 16 points and 7.8 rebounds with 57.7% shooting. However, she stepped up as a playmaker, dishing out four assists. Meanwhile, Sophie Cunningham was a key contributor off the bench for Indiana, finishing with 11 points on six shots, along with three rebounds and three steals.

Following the win, Cunningham and Natasha Howard spoke to the media. When questioned about Boston’s “rough shooting night,” Cunningham emphasized Boston’s crucial role on the team, noting how Boston’s presence on the court commands defensive attention and opens opportunities for teammates like Howard. Howard praised Boston’s playmaking, highlighting her synergy with former WNBA MVP Tina Charles during the game.

Despite the victory, Indiana’s win came with potential bad news as Clark exited the game late with a possible groin injury. The team’s recovery timeline for Clark remains uncertain, but fans hope she will avoid missing significant time. The Fever will now enjoy a brief break before traveling to New York on Wednesday for a 7:30 pm ET game.
