UFC 318 Star Throws Down $1 Million Challenge to Dana White

Patricio Pitbull, a standout at UFC 318, expressed strong confidence in his ability to defeat the UFC’s top fighters and even proposed a $1 million bet with Dana White, the UFC president. Pitbull, who returns to UFC action this Saturday to face Dan Ige, is hoping to make a significant impact on MMA’s biggest stage after a long and successful career in Bellator. The Brazilian fighter made it clear that he wanted to leave the PFL and quickly transitioned to the UFC once given the chance.

Previously, Pitbull showed enthusiasm for proving his superiority over the global featherweight roster and challenged Dana White with a $1 million wager in August 2020, when he was the Bellator featherweight champion and held the 155-pound title as well. At that time, with a record of 30-4, he was considered one of the best fighters outside the UFC. Despite his challenge and Volkanovski’s positive response, the UFC traditionally avoids cross-promotion, so the offer went unanswered.

This year, Pitbull finally signed with UFC but faced a setback when Yair Rodriguez defeated him at UFC 314, delaying his aspirations for a title shot. Now, at 38 years old, Pitbull’s fight against Ige at UFC 318 is crucial if he wants to rebound and pursue his dream of becoming a UFC champion.

Fan Take: Patricio Pitbull’s bold move to enter the UFC and challenge the top featherweights adds an exciting dynamic to the sport, pushing boundaries between major organizations. His matchup against Dan Ige is pivotal, as it could either cement his legacy in the UFC or underscore the challenges veterans face when transitioning to new competition.
