After the disastrous campaign of Tottenham Hotspur’s 2024/25 Premier League campaign, it’s no surprise to see new boss Thomas Frank making the changes he wants for his first team.
The Lily Whiteman lost an astounding 22 league outings last season. This lost most of the sides that avoided relegation in division history, and placed just 1st in the drop zone.
However, owner Daniel Levy handed Dane the opportunity to change the club’s fortunes the next time. New investments this summer have already allowed new investments to add a lot of money.
Mohammed Kudus has already joined the side in the £505 million mammoth transfer, but despite the arrival of Ghanaians last week, big spending could continue.
Many other talents remain on the radar throughout the summer’s windows, with the pitching area becoming the next area to be improved ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
Latest on Spurs Hunting for New Midfielders this Summer
Recently, a deal with Club Bruge star Ardon Jashari has been debated, and interest is not only registered for the 22-year-old talent.
An investigation has been filed by Frank’s part and is trying to find more information about a potential deal to sign the star, apparently being monitored by Nottingham Forest and AC Milan.
However, according to Ben Jacobs, another name has appeared again on the list in recent days as Juventus star Douglas Lewis has appeared firmly in his vision.
Journalists have a talk about signing Brazilians in North London, claiming they are about to be hit by news that the window will be allowed to leave their Italian outfit.
He also said he remains an active target for Frank’s deep midfield role in the system, but as we saw in Jashari’s recent move, he is not the only option they are considering.
Why Spurs’ latest targets are far better than Declan Rice
Declan Rice is a player who has been constantly hated by Spurs fans, and of course, given his rise in stardom at West Ham United before the big bucks to Arsenal.
In the summer of 2023, the Gunners ousted £105 million for the English International signing. This is an incredible fee for the midfielder, but the current climate of the market.
The deep options may be disliked by Lily White’s loyal people, but there is no denying that he is an outstanding talent capable of creating something grand on a large-scale opportunity.
You will need to return to the Champions League clash in a few months. He found the top corner twice from two separate free kicks, securing the Emirates’ victory over Real Madrid.
However, Frank could be trying to land a star above 26 years old. It’s full of ex-professionals full of praise for Brazilians, if Germaine Pennant’s words about Lewis are believed.
He has previously been quoted as saying he believes the 27-year-old is “better” than the British, and his numbers this season support such claims.
“I’d say Douglas Lewis from Aston Villa. I think he can do everything Rice can do better. I think he’s helping more and getting higher goals than he does.
“The cleverness of creativity is good, the talent is better, he can put tackles like rice and break play like rice.
“So if someone tells me, I think I could make Douglas Lewis for £60 million or Declan Rice for £100 million.

Labeled “World Class” by journalist Leonardo Bertuzzi, Lewis completed many of the passes he attempted last season, but also registered key passes around 90.
He was also able to complete a higher percentage of take-ons, along with more passes to the opposition box around 90.

Without the ball, however, the former Villa star would have been just as dominant, increasing his recovery per 90-man, and likely won many of the tackles he entered alongside a perfect sixth place in the Frank system.
It is unclear how much the Brazilian deal will cost Lily White this summer, but considering how much he outweighs the US in 2024/25, it is clear they will get a bargain.
If he makes a move and replicate such an impressive form, it is a wise business and something that can catapult the closest side to domestic success in the near future.
