Liverpool won the Premier League last season and they behave like that. While Arne Slot’s side has spent a lot this summer, FSG recognizes the importance of integrating this position of power.
Eintro Hat Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitique is eager to upgrade Darwinnes by sealing off the £79 million move to Merseyside.
There is a lot of work being charged in the summer market, but there is more to do. After all, Louis Diaz is planning to move to Bayern Munich.
If he leaves, there’s no doubt that the Reds will have to replace themselves.
Candidate List of Liverpool’s Diaz Alternatives
Diaz is increasingly likely to leave Liverpool this summer, with potential alternatives such as Real Madrid’s Rodrigo and Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon being touted as potential alternatives.
The problem with such targets is that they cost a sudden amount. It’s probably too quickly. Liverpool can pull off such a deal and stay within a book of profit and sustainability, but isn’t it worth it to target a promising person with a shattering figure already with so many qualities within Slot’s team?
So it appears that the Reds are ready to bid on Lyon’s Malic Foffana, which has been making waves in League One over the past 18 months.
Reports say Chiesa’s sale proceeded with FSG’s transfer plans, with the Belgian winger on Liverpool’s radar for months. Mersey Cider says that when Italians depart, “it is expected to travel for the Belgians.”
Lyon cherishes £51 million, aged 20, but Liverpool sports director Richard Hughes is set to secure his signature at a cheaper rate, and is cut into installments.
Why Liverpool should sign Malik Fofana?
Although Fofana is a top talent, he has yet to witness the horizon where his potential is most registered. Still, over 62 appearances with Lyon (who joined from Belgian club Jenk in January 2024), he scored 15 goals and provided seven assists.
Last year, the versatile winger hit 17 goal contributions despite only starting 23 matches in all competitions.
There’s a long way to go, but in the long run, Fofana may emerge as an even greater talent than Ekitique. He is now in a further stage of their development, but as long as Forfana is already in years, he is rarely among the best Weidaman in football for just a few years.
And this is even more emphasised when looking at how slots can succeed by coaching young talent to an incredible level. Journalist Antonio Mango has turned his attention to Fofana’s “game-changing potential,” and journalist Dev Baziva praises his “electricity” pace.
If Liverpool sells Diaz, this is the one who goes. And it doesn’t even shed any light on Cody Gakupo. Cody Gakupo plays regular on the left flank for the first-term slot team, relieving the burden of young people like Fofana carrying their shoulders as they progress to the senior Premier League stage.
It’s just a look at the growth of Ekitique in recent years. The 23-year-old left Lames for Paris Saint-Germain on a £30 million contract in 2022 (rejecting Newcastle United). There he got lost in the crowd and flew into the Bundesliga with Frankfurt.
Ekitique’s final term in League 1 was the same as PSG in 2022/23. From that surrounding campaign, you can’t get the most accurate gauge with his skill set on the youthful stage of his hometown.
But the previous seasons have made more solid comments on Reims. You can then look at the quality of teenage French people and see how to compare them to Fofana, who turned 20 in March.

Ekitike is a centre forward, but he is mobile and athletic dynamic. At that point in his journey, the Liverpool star was soon put on the left, heading inwards, showing natural prejudices in goalscoring.
Moreover, both are solid defensive beings, working at a speed that dodges their quality as the primary line of defense on their part.
However, the goal was Fofana’s strengths, and his innate clinical edge could become an even more dangerous force than his advanced Ekitique.
Fofana ranks in the top 10% of midfielders and wingers attacking in Europe’s top five leagues last season. The non-Fenalty goals are the top 2% of progressive carry per 90 according to FBREF, showing a complete whip blend of pace and potency.
Carries are considered progressive if the ball moves from the starting point towards the opponent’s goal at least 10 yards or more, or is carried into the penalty area.
Needless to say, there’s no transitional period in which Fofana doesn’t work with Diaz’s smooth integrity, just as it’s not on the same level as Ekitique (it may take a little while to adjust to the pace of the English game).
But nonetheless, Liverpool was able to hit gold by choosing to spend something on Gordon or Rodrigo’s £100 million ballpark, instead spending a more keen figure on the young, talented and hungry Fofana to prove herself.
It’s a better deal in the long run, and those who Liverpool enjoy the fruits of their labor have grown to become one of Europe’s most feared players.
