Kodai Senga’s performance since returning from the injured list has been inconsistent. He started strong with four scoreless innings in his first game back in Kansas City but struggled against the Angels, lasting only three innings before being pulled. His outing against the Giants followed a similar pattern; he managed five innings while limiting damage to two costly mistakes that led to a solo and a two-run homer by Matt Chapman. Overall, Senga gave up three runs on four hits and five walks.

Carlos Mendoza commented on Senga’s progress, saying, “He’s pitched five innings since returning from injury. We pushed him today but kept his limits in mind, so this feels like a positive step forward.” In his first three starts, Senga allowed seven runs and struggled with control, issuing eight walks. Through a translator, Senga admitted, “I felt ready tonight, but there were many pitches thrown out of competition, which don’t help. Minimizing those mistakes will help me regain my rhythm.”

Despite some instability, Mendoza remains confident that Senga can fix his mechanical issues and return to his dominant form. “The more innings he throws, the better he will get,” the manager said. “I’m not worried because he’s an excellent pitcher who understands the process of coming back from injury.”

Fan Take: This update on Senga is crucial for baseball fans because his recovery and return to form could significantly boost his team’s pitching strength. Watching a talented player overcome challenges and regain dominance adds an exciting narrative to the sport, highlighting resilience and determination.
