  • The weather was slower as the junior PGA tournament began at the Virck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
  • Charlie Woods, Tyler Mawinie and Luke Balaskyvich were among the competitors facing delays.
  • Sahana Chokshi finished the round with 66 and secured the spot with a 54-hole cut.

It will be a long day for junior PGA leaders, including Tyler Mawinney of Fleming Island, Luke Balaskyvich and Charlie Woods of Jacksonville.

A two-hour weather delay in the morning forced everyone at the Birk Boiler Maker Golf Complex on the Purdue University campus in West Lafayette, Tiger Woods, to start late. A little early.

Woods got off to a fast start with birdies in his first two holes. Mawhinney birded two of his first four holes, and Balaskiewicz, a Boles graduate who will be enrolling at the University of North Florida in August, made two birdies after the opening bogey at 1 under in the first five holes.

One player completed in the locker room and perhaps finished with a fairly content is Jacksonville’s Sahana Choksi, an upcoming junior at Episcopal. She cut a one over number and bogeyed the first hole before holding a clean card. 66 birdies had 66 birdies.
