Friday will be a major day on Charlie Woods’ golf trip. Tiger Woods’ 16-year-old son, Woods, will enter the day he was tied up to second place in the Junior PGA Championship after shooting a 6-under 66 for the second consecutive time on Thursday.

In addition to being at an impressive distance to win the Junior PGA Championship, Woods is trying to create his first US Junior Ryder Cup team, as the winner and runner-up each guarantee a spot for the team.

Woods is currently at 12 under 202, which is in the final round on the Ackerman Allen course in West Lafayette, Indiana. He began the round at 10:06am on Friday, adjacent to leaders Landen Esterline (-19) and Penson Budette (-12).

“My round was pretty up and down, and it gave me a heart attack,” Woods said of the third round via the Lafayette Journal and Courier. “But the nine birdies are pretty good. I made a few mistakes today, two or three times, but overall I had a pretty solid round. I’m in a pretty good position tomorrow.”

No. 20 in the latest American Junior Golf Association rankings, Woods showed some of his father’s legendary focus after being delayed two hours Thursday due to weather. Unsurprising, Woods balsed the first hole and continued to play solid golf throughout the round. He finished his round the way he started it: with a birdie set up by an approach shot landing five feet from the hole.
