It wasn’t an easy summer for Tottenham. Things have been getting worse in the last 48 hours.

James Madison appeared to be suffering from a 1-1 draw with South Korea’s Newcastle over the weekend. England International has been experiencing a major discomfort after suffering a contactless injury to his knee, and there is a sense that it could be a recurrence of the issues that ended the 2024-25 season early.

According to a football insider, Mick Brown has revealed that Tottenham is already entering the market to sign a Madison alternative, which is expected to face a long spell on the sidelines.

“Tottenham is pushed into the market. James Madison is a key player for Tottenham and Thomas Frank, so they’ll need someone who can come in and do the job.

“That midfield position during the attack is something they’ve been trying to deal with for a while, obviously they missed Gibbswhite, but they’re looking at the alternative. It’s always difficult when a player gets injured, but the club is prepared for this type of thing.

“They’re looking at the squad area they might be weak, so they’ll have players on their radar. Now they need to bolster their efforts to sign one of them.”

Missing Gibbs White was already a bitter medicine Tottenham swallowed, but it’s even worse now that Madison has been beaten down with a serious injury. They must work to quickly take over, keeping in mind that Thomas Frank’s team already needs other additions.
