Former San Jose Sharks defenseman Marcus Nutivaara has announced that he is continuing his hockey career with Kerupat in Riga. Nutivaara was sidelined during the regular season due to a hip injury, which forced him to take a break from skating. However, he has now recovered and is enthusiastic about getting back on the ice. In a statement, he expressed his excitement, saying, “I have butterflies in my stomach and feel like a little kid! The comeback is certainly challenging. I underwent hip surgery in November, and it took a few months before I felt mobile again. Watching Kelpie’s game made me realize how much I missed hockey. I’m in good shape now and ready to give it my all.”

Nutivaara played 275 NHL games over six seasons, representing the Columbus Blue Jackets and Florida Panthers. During his NHL career, he scored 17 goals, added 54 assists, and totaled 71 points while maintaining a plus-26 rating.

Fan Take: Marcus Nutivaara’s return to professional hockey after a tough injury is an inspiring story for fans, highlighting the resilience and passion athletes bring to the game. His comeback could add depth and experience to his new team, underscoring the enduring spirit that makes hockey so captivating.
