RB Leipzig is actively exploring the summer dive of Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott, lined up potential alternatives to Chelsea-bound Zabi Simons.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Leipzig has launched preliminary consultations with Elliott’s camp, identifying the British midfielder as a player who can adapt the attacking system.
Leipzig originally wanted to hold Simmons for another season after his impressive campaign.
However, as Chelsea is currently leading the Dutch signature race, the German club is moving quickly to assess other creative midfielders.
RB Leipzig wants Liverpool star Harvey Elliott
Impressed by the versatility in Liverpool, Elliott has emerged as a leading candidate.
At this stage, discussions are mainly being held by the players. Leipzig has not yet participated in advanced negotiations with Liverpool, but their growing interest is seen as a signal of intent.
The German outfit is known for finding emerging talent and providing consistent first team football. Elliott can appeal to Elliott, who despite his growth at Anfield, is facing a tough competition for a regular start at Anfield.
With Liverpool being rebuilt under Arne Slot, Leipzig may feel that it is the perfect time to seduce the Reds into a deal, whether it’s a loan or a permanent transfer.
Elliott wants more play time
Although Liverpool has not yet had an official approach, RB Leipzig’s interest is solid progress.
The young Liverpool midfielder has linked his journey away from Anfield over the summer due to limited playing time at Merseyside clubs. When new players arrived this summer, he fell further into the order of pecking order.
Former Reds manager Jurgen Klopp called out “exceptional” talent with Elliott.
