United Secures Landmark $98.8 Million Agreement with Sesco

Manchester United has finalized a deal with RB Leipzig for striker Benjamin Sesko, according to sources at ESPN. The Slovenian international is expected to transfer for around €85 million (approximately $98.8 million), which includes potential add-ons. Leipzig views the add-ons as likely, and the agreement also contains a sell-on clause that would allow them to receive a percentage of any future transfers. Furthermore, the two clubs plan to arrange friendly matches in the future.

The 22-year-old Sesko is set to arrive in Manchester on Thursday evening to undergo a medical examination. It is anticipated that he could be introduced at Old Trafford prior to the team’s preseason friendly against Fiorentina on Saturday. United faced competition from Newcastle United for Sesko’s signature, as sources reveal that Newcastle made multiple attempts to secure him, but his preference leaned toward joining Manchester United.

During the negotiation period, he trained separately from other players. Sesko’s potential transfer may have repercussions for Newcastle, especially concerning their star striker Alexander Isak, who has turned down an initial bid from Liverpool. Last season, Sesko scored 21 goals in 45 appearances for Leipzig, following a successful stint at RB Salzburg before moving to Germany in 2023. He will be the third significant signing for United this summer, joining Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo from Wolves, as their transfer spending approaches £200 million.

This news is significant for soccer fans as it highlights Manchester United’s aggressive push to bolster their squad. Sesko’s arrival could enhance the club’s attacking options, making them more formidable in the league and improving their chances of competing for titles.
