  • Chelsea need more options in midfield
  • The Blues have established contact with the midfielder’s agent

Midfielder Douglas Luiz supports a move to Chelsea and has no intention of returning to Aston Villa, according to journalist Jorge Nicola.

The midfielder, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest from Juventus, is being pursued by Villa manager Unai Emery as he looks for midfield depth in the summer transfer window.

Villa, who previously sold the midfielder to Juventus, realize they made a mistake in letting the Brazilian leave the club.

However, the Premier League side have no chance of signing him at the moment as the Brazilian midfielder wants to move to Chelsea.

Chelsea need more options in midfield

The Blues need more depth in midfield as they rely too much on Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandes.

Romeo Lavia’s injury problems have made Chelsea’s life even more difficult, and they realize now is the right time to invest in another midfielder.

Forest bosses appear ready to let Lewis go midway through the season after the midfielder has failed to impress under manager Sean Dyche.

The 27-year-old has started just five Premier League games for Forest, and in a season where players are looking for more minutes as the World Cup approaches, Luiz realized his development at Forest had stalled and a move to another club was needed.

Chelsea are on the horizon and the chance to play for one of the Premier League’s top teams is attractive to Luiz.

Nicola writes to X:

“Douglas Luiz will be on loan at Chelsea until the middle of this year.

“Sources close to the midfielder have assured us that a deal has been completed.”

Chelsea are poised to win the race for the 27-year-old midfielder after making a breakthrough in negotiations with the midfielder’s agent, Kia Joorabssien.

The Blues have already made contact with Juventus about a loan deal until the end of the season, with the possibility of a permanent move in the summer.

Luiz, who has played in the Premier League and was playing some of the best football of his career before leaving Villa, is now looking to revive his career at Stamford Bridge.
