It has been a quiet summer so far for Aston Villa, but it is expected to change for the rest of the week in the transfer window. Jacob Ramsey’s impending sale to Newcastle should present an opportunity to sign, and one area that can be addressed is the striker.
Aston Villa has yet to sign a John Duran replacement after its relocation to Al Nasr in January. Also, Ollie Watkins is tied to leaving, so Unai Emery’s team most certainly needs new numbers. And one of the players linked to travelling to Villa Park is Nicholas Jackson.
Chelsea is open to selling Jackson this summer, and despite Newcastle taking part in the race, the 24-year-old could be ready for Aston Villa.
Chelsea striker Nicholas Jackson wants to join Aston Villa
According to a football insider, Jackson has told a friend that he wants to attend Aston Villa this summer, and the Midlands Club is now said to be ahead of Newcastle in the race to secure his signature. He is said to be extremely enthusiastic about reunion with Emery. Emery was his manager for a while at La Ligaside Villarreal.
Jackson has undoubtedly struggled with Chelsea over the past few years, but there are indications that he is a talented striker. Working again for Emery allows him to kickstart his Premier League career, certainly bringing less pressure on him compared to being at Stamford Bridge.
It remains to be seen whether Aston Villa is making concrete efforts to sign Jackson this summer, but he will be the top signature. Not only does he cover Watkins, he can also play on the left field. This is what is needed considering Ramsey is heading towards Newcastle.
