Arsenal is hoping to make lots of sales between the moment and the end of summer as they are about to say goodbye to unnecessary players. One of them was Fabio Vieira, who returned to North London last month after an overwhelming Lawn Spelling in Porto.
Vieira was one of many players Arsenal wanted to remove, and their chances looked relatively good. Several aspects have shown interest in Portuguese playmakers, with the latest being West Ham.
West Ham is interested in signing Arsenal’s Fabio Vieira
However, according to Mick Brown (via Football Insider), it is unlikely that West Ham would attempt to sign Vieira.
“Arsenal was about to sell Fabio Vieira. He doesn’t have a role to play under Mikel Arteta, so they want to get cash. His agents have contacted many clubs to find that move, and I think West Ham is what they’ve talked about.
“Graham Potter wants to sign a new midfielder, so there’s no doubt that he’s the name on their list, but to be honest, I’d be surprised if they made the move for him now.
“Personally, I think I prefer all the action, a box-to-box midfielder that can contribute on both ends of the pitch, not just moving forward. I don’t think Vieira has shown he’s not such a player at Arsenal.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can get Vieira, Olexandr Zinchenko, Reese Nelson and more from the book before the summer transfer window closes. If not, there is a lot of frustration.
