  • Despite the Derby defeat, Eustace is positive
  • Mixed derby to sign “special” wingers

Derby County is believed to be fighting Swansea City’s championship rivals this summer for the signature of “special” Premier League players.

Despite the Derby defeat, Eustace is positive

It wasn’t an ideal start to the Rams for the season. The Rams lose the opening couple’s championship match, losing 3-1 to Stoke City, suffering with a 5-3 hammer at their Coventry City home.

Nevertheless, Derby manager John Eustace saw it enough to find something aggressive in Saturday’s defeat against the Sky Blues and be optimistic about moving forward.

“I was very pleased with the boy’s attitude today. The way they got stuck together when they scored a few goals, and the characters they showed to get back to the game when it got 3-2 were delighted. The most disappointing thing for me is that for now we have a slightly softer underberry.

“We’re probably grateful that we haven’t been speeding as fast as we want at the moment through different scenarios. And yet, you have to defend the box better than we did in our last few games.”

The Derby knows that pitch improvements are needed to avoid a relegation fight this season, and is now linked to players that Rams supporters know well.

Mixed derby to sign “special” wingers

According to AthleticDerby has been pursuing the moves of Liverpool youth Kaide Gordon this summer, and Swansea is also paying attention to the 20-year-old’s move. The Reds are also “considering the loan approach” of Winger, who began his career with the Rams before completing his move to Anfield in 2021, “considering the loan approach.”

Gordon could return to the Derby for the rest of the season, but he didn’t necessarily hit the big heights that many people expect.

“He’s a special kid, everyone knows it. He’s a really calm and great finisher. But he can improve what he needs to be more involved in the game.”

Gordon knows he doesn’t have a real future in Liverpool, so a year away certainly appeals to him, allowing him to kick his career and not stagnate.

He now reaches the point where he needs to find extra gear, aiming to add to the tally of only one championship goal in 16 appearances, but he has the talent to make an excellent addition to the Derby for a year. Eustace may even feel that a permanent signature could appear on the card next summer if he was impressed enough.
