Fabrizio Romano reports that Newcastle United has made new contact with the club this summer about signing a new striker.
See Wissa bids for Newcastle rejected
The Magpie asserts that Alexander Isaac will not go anywhere before the end of the transfer window, but that doesn’t stop them from chasing the other strikers following the exit of Calm Wilson.
Whissa has been one of Newcastle’s major transfer targets in recent months, but earlier this week there was a £35 million bid for the 28-year-old who had Brentford rejected, potentially bringing the deal to £40 million.
The West Londoners are on the £60 million for the striker and don’t want to lose him cheap after selling Brian Mbeumo to Manchester United, but it remains to be seen whether the Magpie is so willing to pay it for him.
It is important that alternatives be seen, especially when Wissa becomes unattainable for Newcastle. Now there’s a drop in promising updates regarding another potential signature.
write xRomano called the Bruce in the past few days, claiming Newcastle made a new effort to sign Chelsea striker Nicholas Jackson this summer.
Jackson isn’t necessarily the most ruthless offensive player in the Premier League, but he has plenty to offer Newcastle. More importantly, unlike Brentford, Chelsea plans to sell players.
In fact, former Liverpool and British striker Peter Crouch consider him an underrated player who deserves more “respect” than is currently given.
“I think he was incredible. I saw the statistics from last year. And if you take the penalty from that, he’s ahead of Mo Sarah. Haaland above him is just a lot of technical players with the ability, and that’s got a lot of goals – he’s right there (with them).
At 24, Jackson is a young alternative to Wissa, giving him more time to improve. If Isaac stays, only one of them is needed, but if the Swedes move to Liverpool late in the window, it would be ideal to bring both.
