Newcastle United fans are eagerly hoping for the emergence of a Premier League clash on Monday night, meeting Eddie Howe’s Side Meeting Liverpool and St James Park.
Bruno Guimarès, Jollington and others will want to do a kind of retaliation for the defending champion after being caught up in the fierce transfer saga for weeks regarding Alexander Isaac’s future.
Isaac is not involved, Hau confirmed. Whether the Swedish striker will wear black and white remains a million dollar question once again, disrupting United’s build-up for the 2024/25 campaign.
Anthony Gordon gave him as the makeshift No. 9 last weekend when Newcastle opened the season with a goalless draw at Villa Park, but it’s clear that a natural finisher is needed.
And while such a tremendous search for advancement drags, there remains hope that Newcastle will close the deal for Brentford’s Joan Wissa.
Latest Joan Wissa to Newcastle
Newcastle has been locked up in a fight to sign Wissa for a few weeks, and the 28-year-old is eager to move to Tyneside in similar circumstances to Isaac’s situation, but his outfit plays hardball and has so far rejected two bids.
Brentford manager Keith Andrews said earlier this week that the Dr. Congo star returned to preseason training but was not involved in a trip to Aston Villa with honeybees on Saturday.
Wissa scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season, but he is not as technically talented or agile as Isaac, and is not actually considered a potential replacement for the 25-year-old.
Eventually, Callum Wilson joined West Ham United this summer after his contract with Toon expired.
So Newcastle may need to sign a centre forward to compete with Wissa.
Newcastle enters bid for new strikers
Newcastle has entered the bid for Atletico Madrid striker Alexander Sorlos, who wants to leave Diego Simeone’s side before the end of the transfer window.
The prolific shooter is available for a cut price of 35 million euros (£30 million) under the £40 million offer that was tabled at Wissa earlier this week.
However, Tottenham Hotspur and Serie A champion Napoli are also reportedly interested in Norwegian International, so Hau and his transfer officer must act quickly here.
What Sollos brings to Newcastle
Sollos, 29, may not be a spring chicken, but he developed into a devastating Spanish striker, previously lying on the roadside when he scored only once in 20 matches at Crystal Palace seven years ago.
Sollos then rediscovered loans in Türkiye with Trabzonspor, scoring 33 goals in the 2019/20 campaign. He jumped into Germany and joined RB Leipzig, which was ok, but La Liga proved the greenhouse due to his shooting skills.
In fact, Sollos has started only 20 of these matches, marking 24 goals over Atletico’s 53 appearances. Let’s talk about the clutch. Simeone said the frontman was “amazing” when he found space inside the box.
Sollos is strong and prolific, but he is mobile and committed in the defensive phase. Looking at how he matches with Wissa over the past 365 days, there is little doubt that he is a more complete man.

And that’s fine. Wissa is not targeted for his creativity (he showed that he was more than just a shooting last season when he linked up with Brian Mbemo).
For such a huge striker, the 6-foot-4 Soros has a spring in his steps, and his willingness to get himself on the ball suggests that he can provide a more dynamic and effective focus at the front of his system.
It’s what 6 feet three own Isak performed in such Aplomb in his three years as a magpie.
Thus, Newcastle feels it is important this month for Newcastle to beat the competition and sign Sollos.
Sollos is far above the level he played while playing at Crystal Palace, and given the comprehensive fluidity that Newcastle teams are ingrained in, there is no reason they couldn’t produce goods for Howe in the coming years.
Like his successful scoring in the 2024/25 campaign, the Nomadic forward further highlighted his robust and combative nature, tailored to the strict nature of the La Liga League, earning 51% of his duel in the Legal Gun campaign.
While there remains a chance that Isak will be reintegrated into Howe’s Newcastle team, it may be very high that these desperate damage has been done over the past few weeks.
If that’s really the case, it would be worth signing players like Sollos, who boasts a rich touch, progressive, powerful, and rich touch, surpassing even Wissa in his A-game last year.
