NEW YORK – Iga Swiezk was 6-1, 6-2, 6-2 at Arthur Ash Stadium at the US Open on Tuesday, but Taylor Swift announced his engagement to Travis Kelce on Instagram.

A coincidence?

Swiatek thinks it isn’t.

Shortly after the match and the release of the immediate virus post, WTA Tour resident “Swiftie” could only joke about the timing when talking to reporters.

“She posted when I was finished,” Sweet said with a wry smile. “Yeah, maybe that’s not a coincidence. I don’t know.”

She said she showed her team’s post shortly after her team got off the court. Swiatek – Again, the moment removed from the advance to the second round in the Grand Slam, he quickly texted a friend about the news.

Questions about the couple’s engagement and love story were only seconds at her postmatch press conference. Currently the second in the world and six-time major champion, Swiatek couldn’t hide her excitement.

“She deserves the best, so I’m just happy with her,” Sweet said. “Obviously she had a lot of boyfriends, so we know everything about it. So we hope this will stick forever. Travis looks like a great guy. She looks so happy.

From there, a quick barrage of related topics followed. When did she become a fan? (2014.) Has she already pre-ordered “Showgirl Life”? (No, because she buys it in the store and has a physical copy.) Will she buy one of the alternative versions of the album? (She’s not sure. She wants the original first.)

Swiatek seemed happy to mandate one after another enthusiastic response. She shared before – often her love for Swift (she believes she helped the artist learn English as a young teenager), Swiatek added that she listened to an episode of the “New Heights” podcast earlier this month.

“It was a long interview,” Swiatek said. “I said I was mostly waiting to hear about the (new) album, because I already knew most of the things when Sourdough was explaining the ERAS tour and everything, but it’s great that she was a football fan and explained so much to people who listened to podcasts for football.

“I think it’s great that she can fit anywhere and I hope people clearly love it because she was at a football game and she booed and got it all.

When a reporter asked if she would answer any questions other than Taylor, she jokingly said “no” and pretended to stand up to get up. She eventually answered some questions about tennis and other topics, but seemed relieved when the topic became swift again before the press conference ended.
