Manchester United have made a call regarding Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo within the past 48 hours, according to transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Ghanaian international has been one of the most in-form players in the Premier League this season, with a total of seven goals and three assists in 15 top-flight games.

Skilled, fast and good with both feet, Semenyo looks like the perfect attacking player and certainly has the makings to step up to a bigger club.

Red Devils fans considering how to buy tickets for Aston Villa vs. Man United may also be wondering what Ruben Amorim’s line-up will look like if they lose Brian Mbeumo and Amad Diallo in the upcoming AFCON tournament.

These are two big losses overall, so United could increase their interest in Semenyo as a replacement.

Romano provided an update on the Semenyo transfer turmoil on his YouTube channel, explaining that there is a lot of interest in the 25-year-old.

But for now, United and City appear to be in the lead in the race to sign him, with the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham.

“City and United have both called us in the last 48 hours,” Romano said.

“Tottenham have spent a lot of time in recent days trying to resolve the situation with Semenyo.

“And then there’s Liverpool…we’ve been interested since November, but again it depends on what happens with Mohamed Salah and Liverpool’s economic intentions, because they may have other priorities in January.”

Should Antoine Semenyo be wary of a move to United?

Semenyo is at an important point in his career and will certainly need to think carefully about whether a move to Old Trafford is in his best interest.

Ruben Amorim isn’t doing the most convincing job at MUFC right now, and most fans probably wouldn’t be too surprised if the club made another change in the dugout soon.

This is not an ideal situation for Semenyo and he could end up following the same path as many other top players who have regressed since joining United.

City are a more composed team who tend to get the best out of their players and will certainly have a better chance of winning silver at a major tournament.
