Hunting Tottenham Hotspur’s new number 10 this summer was certainly frustrating – the hierarchy couldn’t raise talent to support Thomas Frank in his first year.
Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze are two players on this window’s radar, but neither player will move to North London before the Monday deadline.
The former writes a three-year new contract for Nottingham Forest, while the latter completed a £67.5 million move to join the Bitter Rivals and Boyad Club Arsenal.
To exacerbate the new boss issues, current 10 options James Madison and Dejan Crucevsky, went missing until at least 2026, with the duo injured in recent weeks.
With only a few days left in the transfer window, the hierarchy will need to work tirelessly to gain top-level options to support Dane in search of success in the 2025/26 Premier League.
This summer, Spurs will hunt for a new number 10
Nico Paz has appeared as a potential Spurs option over the past few weeks, with the Lilywhites tier bringing an offer of 700 million euros (£61 million) to 20-year-old Como.
However, their bid for Argentina has been rejected by Serie A costumes, claiming he has not been sold this summer.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, many players are considered, but it appears that the club has created a beeline to land RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons.
He claims the Spurs have recently made an offer to the Dutch, winning a total of £61 million including add-ons, and is about to hijack a potential move on fellow Premier League sides to Chelsea.
Plettenberg also said it was “a matter of time” before an agreement was reached, leaving the decision to players about where they would like to play from 2025/26 onwards.
Why is the Spurs’ latest target being Frank’s own Eriksen?
In the summer of 2013, the Spurs split the fees in the £11 million area on land attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen from Ajax – arriving at the club as an unknown amount to many fans.
But the deal for Dane falls as one of the best in their history after making over 300 appearances in nearly seven years of spells in North London.
He scored 69 goals and 82 assists before helping Lily White reach the Champions League Final in the 2018/19 campaign under Mauricio Pockettino.
Eriksen was 10th mostly in trade, but could have been out of the left side of the offense, allowing him to become one of the most dangerous players in the Premier League.
He left the club more than five years ago, but new boss Frank will have the opportunity to land his own version of Fanfavolite in Simmons’ move in the coming days.
Both have performed in Eredivisy, but it is their own play style that allows them to see the Dutch recreate Dane’s success in his time in England.
Called “world class” by former Spurs star Rafael van der Wahto, RB Leipzigster has registered 11 goals and eight assists in all competitions in his last campaign.

However, his underlying statistics are just as impressive, and also offers him the opportunity to emulate Eriksen’s success in Lily White.
He also scored a total of 2.2 chances per 90, and successfully dribbling 1.4 per 90. He highlighted the threat of poses with the ball at his feet, providing opportunities for the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Richarisson to build an impressive start to the season.
The young talent doesn’t stop there, earning 75% of the tackles he’s in, and a duel of 5.7 per 90, showing him his power and his ability to regain his possessions on his side – something essential to Frank’s relentless press system.
Despite bidding for the Dutch signature, it remains unclear where the attacking midfielder will be transferred on Monday.
If he joins, it’s an incredible business by the Lily White hierarchy, and ultimately lands players who have been hunting for the summer – passing Frank a new offensive threat he’d been craving since taking the reins.
