Your support will help us tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to big technology, the independence is on the ground when stories develop. Whether you’re researching the finances of Elon Musk’s Pro-Trump PAC, or producing the latest documentary, The Words, we shed light on American women fighting for reproductive rights, but we know how important it is to analyze facts from a message.

At such a crucial moment in American history, we need a reporter on the ground. Your donation allows us to send journalists to continue talking to both sides of the story.

Independents are trusted by Americans throughout the political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans from reports and analytics using paywalls. We believe that quality journalism should be available to everyone who is paid by those who can afford it.

Crans-Montana’s first day play at the European Master was interrupted after a thick fog swallowed the course.

The DP World Tour event had begun far from ideal conditions on Thursday mornings. There were early tee-time people who were forced to play some stunning shots on the Swiss course.

The course was covered in cloud and had already paused play. The organizers then decided to halt the proceedings more completely in the first few groups that completed the five halls.

The first round was eventually resumed at 3pm local time (2pm on BST) with a portion of the course wrapped in the cloud, but was paused once more after less than 30 minutes. The predicted afternoon rain could bring even more issues for both players and organizers on the powerful field that has gathered in Switzerland, which is unhappy with the delay.

The Ryder Cup hopeful, including Hojgaard Twins, Marco Pengge and Aaron Rai, were among those competing with South Africa’s Brandon Stone, who took an early lead with two birdies throughout the first three holes.

The event will be held at Kransourcere Golf Club, located at an altitude of 1,500m in the Swiss Alps. England’s Matt Wallace is the defending champion of Matt Fitzpatrick and Danny Willett, among other past winners on the field.

The tournament is the last chance for the Rider Copper future to impress Luke Donald, and the European captain is set to reveal the captain’s pick on Monday.
