Manchester United may appear in the equation in the future, but that may depend on the club’s success in its long-term goal of trying to sign Carlos Valleva from Brighton.

One source also said that “Tottenham had direct contact with the palace before the Community Shield” over Wharton, but things have not progressed since.

While it may be a bit late to get such an ambitious deal at the end of the summer, some of the industry’s numbers have not ruled out an approach from the city and Madrid.
