Arsenal has some team trimming after a luxurious summer spending, and sports director Andrea Berta doesn’t include Bayer Leverkusen’s latest contract for Piero Hincapie.

To combat the loss of Jakub Kiwior, who joined FC Porto in 2026 with a purchase obligation, Gunners attacked a similar arrangement with Hincapie’s Leverkusen as a direct replacement for Paul.
The 23-year-old will jump into Kiwior’s shoes as a backup for William Saliba and Gabriel Magalges, or even someone who can offer a tough competition for the fierce centre-back duo after years of impressive Bundesliga.
Arsenal has agreed to a loan agreement that will be permanent for around £45 million in 2026, with Levalksen boasting a substantial 10% sell-on clause to make further profits from the defender’s future sale.
Apart from the late surprises, it appears that Arsenal is taking place on incoming calls in the windows, unless it equips longtime target Rodrigo with a dramatic slow dive after the recent link.
In the meantime, Arsenal has players coming out the door.
Mikel Arteta is not useful for Reiss Nelson, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Fabio Vieira, and more. He also gets Oleksandr Zinchenko, who is repeated repeatedly on the last day of the window.
The weekly defender £150,000 has already attracted interest from Italy and Turkey through this window, but now the move to Ligue 1 could be on the card instead.
Marseille is in talks with Arsenal to sign Olexandre Zinchenko
According to David Ornstein, Roberto deserbi’s Marseilles consulted with Arsenal to sign Zinchenko before 7pm on Monday, exploring a permanent Ukrainian international deal that was barely seen last season.
The former Man City defender fell into the pecking order very simply after the arrival of Riccardo Calfioli last summer and after the appearance of Miles Lewis Skelly, but when called, Zinchenko was constantly shifted.
“Every time I see him play, you see his passion, you see him screaming after the game (against United) and that’s absolutely amazing,” Armand Traore said at 2023 Talksport.
“I’m thinking about (back) a few times when Arsenal may not have found a way.
“For Arsenal, he was great. The second option left back is Kieran Tierney (and) he’s a great left back, but he doesn’t get a lot of games because of how great Zinchenko is.
“He won the title and is also a great team mentality. He came in and I think he’s really great. I was really impressed with him. He’s pretty much like a cherry blossom (in the cake).”
