During Coco Goff’s 7-6 (7-5), the US open victory in the second round of 6-2 against Donna Vekic on Thursday, Goff found inspiration from the familiar face of the stands.

Gauff recorded seven double faults and concluded the tough first set, losing four of six service games. After a 5-4 drop, tears came to mind, but Gauff won the set and won a match before winning the Biles. Gouf saw biles in the stands while the Olympians were interviewed by ESPN.

“I saw her and honestly, I don’t know if she’s there or not,” Gauff said. “But she helped me pull it out. I was thinking if she could go to the six-inch beam and do it under all the pressures of the world.

After the match, the two met and Gouf thanked him for coming to Villes. Goff even facetimed her mom, so biles could say hello and took screenshots of the three of them.

“Seriously, like I said in the interview, I was literally thinking about it,” said Gauff, 2023 US Open champion.

“Yeah, that’s so sweet,” replied Biles.

Biles had similar praise for Gouf while being interviewed during the match. “Clearly” Goff admitted that it was the reason he returned to see the US open after his first visit last year.
