According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Nicholas Jackson’s proposal to move to Bayern Munich collided with a massive stumbling, with players and his representatives rushing to save the deal.
Jackson, along with agent Ali Barat, is staying in Munich to find a solution that could revive the move that appears to have been on the brink of completion a few days ago.
This summer, after signing by Joan Pedro and Liam Dellup, Jackson fell into a pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
To get more play time, he’s looking for a move away from the blues, and even Chelsea have agreed to his departure, but things have now changed.
Chelsea intervenes after Liam gets injured
The confusion came after Chelsea ordered Jackson to return to London, and was expected to feature more prominently in Enzo Maresca’s plans this season, following the hamstring injury that Liam Dellup suffered.
When Delap stands by, Bruce becomes reluctant to further reduce the depth of the attack by granting Jackson’s departure.
As a result, permission for the Senegalese to receive his planned medicine with Bavaria was revoked.
Bayern Munich still pushes
Despite the set-up, Bayern hopes that negotiations will continue. Talks between German champions, Chelsea and Jackson camps are expected to resume this morning.
Bayern saw Jackson as a versatile option to bolster the offense and was confident in hitting the deal after weeks of discussion.
The 24-year-old is said to be keen on the move, and while Bayern sees him as a step up in his career, his immediate future is now in Chelsea’s hands.
The time to come is critical as Bruce considers his own injury issues.
What once seemed like an easy move could become a transfer story that can be carried over until tomorrow’s deadline.
