  • Will Liverpool return to Mark Guech?
  • Liverpool has depth to pass through until January

Liverpool has failed to make a move to sign Crystal Palace defender Mark Guech.

The 25-year-old was scheduled to join Liverpool this summer, but Crystal Palace was unable to sign a replacement and had pulled the contract plug.

The two clubs previously agreed to a £35 million deal for the players. The 25-year-old also received medical treatment with Liverpool, according to David Ornstein.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decided to return to defender when the transfer window opened in January. It’s no secret that they need another quality central defender, and the Crystal Palace star could be the ideal acquisition. He is the final year of his contract and his value is likely to drop even further in January.

The defender is totally disappointed with the situation and it is still unclear whether they can seamlessly reintegrate into the sides. Crystal Palace denied the move to define his career.

Liverpool has depth to pass through until January

As for Liverpool, they will need to rely on Joe Gomez and Giovanni Leoni as backup options to Virgil van Dik and Ibrahima Conate until the transfer window in January. It will be interesting to see if we can reach January even without any major issues.

Guehi has previously indicated that he does not want to sign a new contract with the club, and it is very unlikely to sign Crystal Palace and extensions after the event on the deadline. Players are now expected to leave the club at nominal fees as free agents in January or in the summer.
