Keegan Bradley’s resume proves he’s worthy of a Ryder Cup player coach, but does scrutiny force his hand?

What if you say that one of the most skilled American golfers in this rider cup cycle was a bubble player? This is the man who won the 2024 FedEx Cup Playoff Event and the 2025 Signature Event. He is the man who won two other runner-ups in this span and has achieved top 10 results in his latest PGA Championship. He is the man who finished in the top 10 in the Tour Championship and has qualified for the past three seasons.

From a statistical perspective, the person is at the pinnacle of his power as the final improvement has finally arrived to praise a world-class ball-hitting career. The players finished inside the top 12 of the Ryder Cup standings in 2023.

Since the start of the 2022-23 season, only one American has achieved more wins on the PGA Tour than he has. Scotty Scheffler is the number one player in the world who has more victories than anyone walking the planet in that range.

This man’s compatriot gathers around him and when he played at the Ryder Cup before, he was one of the most electric duos in recent memory. He brings raw emotions and energy that cannot be replicated. This is the passion for events that others have.

That’s all he can think of. That’s all he longs to achieve. When a moment arises, he appears eager to meet it. On paper, he is perfect for the competition and is perfect to represent the United States as one of 12 players wearing red, white and blue.

The only problem? The man is American Captain Kiegan Bradley. Perhaps that’s a total problem. Well, it depends on who you ask.

“It’s going to be tougher,” Bradley said he chose the six captain picks of the Ryder Cup. “I went through a lot this year. I didn’t know how to handle it (season). I’m proud of my way. This is an entire animal. I have no clue. This would be really difficult.

“When it’s finished here, we’re going to talk to the vice captain. We’ve put everything on hold for the last few days. They want to leave me alone. But we got in touch with them and got the final decision.

When the American PGA turned to Bradley to lead Red, White and Blue in Beth Page Black, even if it was discussed at a press conference that announced his captain – It was decided that one month after the biennial competition with Europe.

Will Bradley choose himself as the choice of America’s leading captain? Does he need to do so, or will the decision be considered respected or selfish, given that Bradley was handed over unexpectedly (and perhaps unfairly) by former captain Zach Johnson two years ago?

“No matter what decision I made here, I think I could have gone any other way, easily — no matter what,” Bradley said. “The only thing I care about is winning the Ryder Cup on Sunday, the Ryder Cup. Then I know I made the right decision. Until then, I don’t know. It’s going to be pretty wild.

Resumes cannot be denied. On paper, Bradley has been the top 12 American way that hasn’t been dealing with for longer than this year. He reached the top five of the conversation following his victory at the Travelers Championship.

In the past three years, the week after the US Open, positions have changed since raising the second Travelers Championship Trophy. Some other players appeared, including Cameron Young. Cameron Young jumped from outside the dialogue and firmly into the mix thanks to his solid play, along with the Maiden victory at the Wyndham Championship.

Patrick Cantray competed for the Tour Championship, nearly winning his second FedEx Cup in the last five seasons. Ben Griffin overcomes his candidacy with quality play in the US, with others such as Maverick McNelley, Chris Gotterup and Sam Burns posed the lawsuit at various points.

But compare some of these potential choices with those who make the choice.

Morikawa Colin hasn’t won in nearly three years. Cantlay has not found a circle of winners in the long run. Justin Thomas finally beat the drought with RBC legacy this April, but achieved a similar unwinning streak of his own, finishing the season with relative sound. Burns’ final stroke play victory took place in 2022. McNellie and Young both achieved one victory in that time frame. This is the only victory on the PGA Tour. Griffin’s final top 10 finish came at the US Open.

Bradley’s work body is long, strong and sturdy for the rider cup test. This is a high pressure environment in which players live and breathe on every shot. He played the same way – if not better than the name that oppresses himself, he did it all through a lens that was far closer. Under the immense scrutiny of onlookers, Bradley still performed like one of the best players in the sport.

Others were recognized as lulls in their performances, but small spans of attention were seen elsewhere, making Bradley stayed center stage throughout the PGA Tour season. In all tournaments he was asked about his play and his upcoming captain’s pick. In most tournaments, he proved he belonged, so those questions were being asked in the first place.

“When I get inside the rope, this is what we were born for to do,” Bradley said. “When you can separate the noise when you’re inside the rope, that’s when you’ve done your best. I’ve been able to do a great job all year round. I haven’t done a good job in the last few weeks. This week I was really proud of it.

“I have experienced something no one has ever really experienced this year, and I am proud of the way we did.

Unfortunately for Bradley, this doesn’t play on paper, as it at least has to do with his decision to play in the Ryder Cup or not. There are more variables, such as whether he can function well in his role as a captain. Especially considering that when it comes to setting up the media and lineup, you are preparing to take the course as a player.

But what about your resume? Bradley once again proved the time he deserves to represent the United States as player captain in pure merit.
