Liverpool defender Ibrahima konate has linked his move away from the club in recent months.

Real Madrid hopes to sign France International, 26, and they are currently in high-level consultations to get the deal done.

Real Madrid closes to Ibrahima Conate

According to journalist Jose Felix Diaz (H/T Madrid Zone), French International’s move to Real Madrid is extremely sophisticated.

It remains to be seen whether they will be able to get a deal across the line. Players are expected to participate with free transfers. His contract with Liverpool expired at the end of the season, and the Premier League champions still couldn’t secure an extension with him.

It appears that the player is about to join a Spanish club in the summer. He has been a key player for Liverpool since joining the club and it will be interesting to see if they can properly replace him. They are already deeply lacking in the defensive forces, and removing the French would weaken them even further.

They tried to sign Mark Guech from Crystal Palace during the summer transfer window, but the move didn’t work. It will be interesting to see if they have decided to return to the Crystal Palace star when the transfer window resumes in January. If Konate leaves the club in the summer, Liverpool will need to try and invest in two quality central defenders.

Losing a player of his abilities on a free transfer would be a devastating blow to any club. Liverpool has already lost Trent Alexander Arnold on a free transfer to Real Madrid, and it appears that the Spanish club is now planning to take another blow to the English outfit.

Real Madrid, on the other hand, needs defensive depth, and the French should prove to be a great addition. He was at the peak of his career and he established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the Premier League.
