  • I’d like to sign a new midfielder in January
  • Pogba had the greatest talent ever

Manchester United had a Zinedine Zidane-esque midfielder with legendary Red Devils midfielder Paul Sholes compared to Liverpool icon Stephen Gerrard.

I’d like to sign a new midfielder in January

After missing out on a new central midfielder during the summer 2025 transfer period, Man United has set his sights on signing in January, with many potential targets already identified.

There are clear indications that Ruben Amorim needs to strengthen his options in the engine room, suggesting that the Shoals will not cut Bruno Fernandez as a central midfielder, while also keeping Casemiro single for criticism.

The 50-year-old said: “Fernandez (and Casemiro), they are the two he’s going with, and Fernandez is the one who’s filled as a midfielder. He might run away in one, two or three games.

“Did you really need to bring two No. 10 (Cunha and Mbeumo)? I think you have a Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo can do that.”

With their priorities undoubtedly wrong in the summer, United appears poised to make the move for their new central midfielder this winter, and they hope that the new signature will celebrate Paul Pogba’s achievements.

Pogba’s career at United was not the way everyone wanted, but he received very high praise soon after returning to Old Trafford.

“His control of the ball and how he quickly turns play from defense to offense is special. And it hurts to us to lose him.”

“It’s not easy to compare him to a great man of the past, but he has many details of both the Platini and Zidane games.”

The Shoals were also an avid admirer of the central midfielder.

“He can do it all as a midfielder and you’ll probably compare him to Stephen Gerrard with his pace, power and skill.”

Pogba had the greatest talent ever

While his 32-year-old days at Old Trafford were not a complete failure to win two EFL Cups and the 2016-17 Europa League, there is no doubt that the midfielder couldn’t hit the heights expected of him.

Given how highly acclaimed 91 French International is by Scholes and Buffon, he had the ability to be Man United’s all-time best, but things didn’t go well, perhaps due to his attitude that Graeme Zones regularly criticized.

Soon said: “Paul Pogba plays for himself. It’s all about how cool he is and shows how smart he is. I think Pogba will maintain his transfer value until United can sell him because he doesn’t deserve his place for other reasons.”

With Pogba’s doping ban, the former United man definitely had his last chance to get his career back on track, and now signed as Monaco on a two-year deal.
