Gael Clichy explains why Arsenal regrets signing Viktor Gyoker

Arsenal finally signed Victor’s Gyoker in the summer to finish the search for numerous No. 9. Mikel Arteta silently hopes that the Swedes can recreate his heroes from Portugal.

Gyoker scored 97 goals in 102 appearances, surpassing two sensational campaigns in Sports CP. Last season’s Rui Borges flank was fired into the domestic double, with sports director Andrea Berta putting up a potential £64 million on him.

In addition to paying the guaranteed £55 million, Gunners agreed to pay another £9 million with the 27-year-old potential add-on.

Gyoker has demonstrated consistency in one of Europe’s top five leagues, not to mention the fact that he is currently at the height of his career, but highlights the possibility that Berta has potentially secured one of his summer signatures.

The former Coventry City and Swansea City stars also already have some experience in the UK. Berta is reportedly persuaded to move to Arsenal for gyoker over long-time striker target Benjamin Sesco (athletic).

Arsenal made proposals to Sesco in the summer of 2024 and in January this year, making multiple attempts to sign the Slovenians, but with Berta’s arrival, the North Londoners shifted their focus to Gjokers instead.

So far, despite barely sniffing against the tough opposition at Man United and Liverpool, Gyoker has won a Premier League brace during Arsenal’s 5-0 victory at Leeds United.

That being said, some critics have already questioned like Rio Ferdinand. Critics have told his YouTube channel that he is not yet convinced by Gyoker after his performance at Anfield just before the international break.

“He’s done one good run on the channel and played someone, but against the power, quick and powerful centre half, he doesn’t look like he’ll be bullied. I need to see more,” Ferdinand said.

“If he can’t bully them at strength or pace, what’s next? Does he have a noose in the box to get the garden? I haven’t seen it yet.”

Now former Arenaal left-back Gael Clichy explains his own doubts about the centre-forward in an interview with Metro.

The French say Gyoker lacks link-up play to help Arsenal, and claims that now Liverpool star Alexander Isaac is better suited to Arteta’s system.

“Is he (gyoker) the type of player that Arsenal fans wanted to see? Probably not,” Chrissy said.

“They are happy with him and will they support him? In the beginning, certainly, they want something amazing.

“I don’t think he’s like the kind of player Arsenal is used to. I don’t think he’ll provide what he needs on the link-up side of the game. I think someone like Isaac would have been better suited, but Arsenal would add something that he didn’t have.”

Football is often very reactionary at the highest point, and since it arrived from the sport, it has received unfair criticism, perhaps due to the heavy expectations of Gyoker on the shoulders.

Arsenal is eager to wait two years for a Premier League title, and Gyoker is widely seen as one of the potentially game-changing signatures to help them do just that.

Arteta’s side will win Nottingham Forest on an early kickoff on Saturday after returning from internationals, and Gyoker will be available to visitors settling under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

A compelling display against Forest in a must-see game will be amazing to restore faith in Gyoker as Post-Coglow’s open and overwhelming football brand could potentially play in the hands of Number nine.
