WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The Cumberland woman finished playing in the Roman Invitational on Tuesday, finishing fifth overall in the team’s standings, with a three-round total of 1,003.

Marian (Ind.) won the team title at 943, with Indiana Wesleyan in second place at 955.

Phoenix was led by junior Matil Dalind and finished in seventh with a 239 three-round score. Lind opened the tournament with a strong 70 in the first round, scoring 85 and 84 to secure his first top-10 finish of the fall season.

Lucy Lovedon provided consistent play in all three days, winning 81 consecutive rounds after finishing 85 opening 85 to 20th with 247 to tie it to 20th place. Crystal Zamzow was late on the 26th, recording 84-86-85 with a total of 255. Franziska tied 37th place (85-89-89) with 263 (85-89-89) and Caitlyn Bilham set the best round of the event at 88 on Tuesday, closing with 278 in 43rd. Competing as an individual, Katelyn Dehart came in 49th at 304 after rounds 103, 99 and 102.

Cumberland will return to action from September 22-23 at Carrie College at Kanebreak Country Club.

The man moves to one location and is in 8th place.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Cumberland’s men moved one spot on the final day of Tuesday’s season opening game, finishing eighth in the Roman Invitational.

Cumberland scored the best score for the tournament, filming 304 in the final round. Phoenix finished with a total of 933 shots. Marian won the tournament with 883 shots with 23 strokes. Campbellsville finished second in the 906, while Cumberland was third in the 907.

Gustav Fredriksson fired a 2-under par 70 in the final round of the tournament, causing the leaderboard to skyrocket. He finished as a low scorer for Cumberland, scoring a total of 231 strokes in a 16th tie. Fredrickson began the day when he played Birdie Bydy on No. 1 and Front Nine on the second under. He added 3 straight birdies to 13, 14 and 15 to get 4 unders, but finished his round bogey bogey and posted 70.

Patrick Chesnut and Carter Stroup were tied to 23rd place with a total of 234 strokes. Chestnuts shot the tournament’s best round in the final round, finishing in 5 over 77. Chestnut had one birdie card on No. 11 with 12 pars, four bogeys and one double. Stroup shot 6 over 78 with three birdies, eight pars, five bogeys and two doubles.

Bailey Lee Saw finished with 83 in the final round, finishing 40th with a total of 241 strokes. Harry Cagill and Carlos Diaz came in 47th with a total of 245 strokes. Cagill posted 79 with three birdies, while Diaz shot 85 with two birdies.

Phoenix will be active at Upike Fall Invitational from September 29th to 30th.
