Saturday’s 3-0 loss at London’s rival Tottenham’s home has heightened pressure on West Ham manager Graham Potter.
It was a disastrous start to West Ham’s new season, with the exception of a shock 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest two weeks ago. There was already pressure on Potter to join the campaign, but that has increased tenfold after crushing defeats to Sunderland, Chelsea and Tottenham.
And if Potter is let go in the coming weeks, arrangements have already been made to appoint his successor.
West Ham hopes Nuno Espirito Santo will replace Graham Potter
According to Alan Nixon (via Hammers News), West Ham is interested in moving to Nuno Espirito Santo if he breaks up with Graham Potter. Club owner David Sullivan is said to be a praiser to the Portuguese manager who was recently fired by Nottingham Forest in surprising circumstances.
Nuno’s availability is believed to be even more unacceptable for Potter’s position at London Stadium, and that would have been exacerbated by his defeat to Tottenham in the Derby on Saturday.
It’s no surprise to see Potter leave West Ham in the coming weeks. And as far as exchanges are concerned, Nuno is excellent, and he showed that between the wolves and Nottingham Forest spells he can stabilize the ship.
For now, we still don’t know what’s going on in Potter in West Ham. At this stage it doesn’t look like he’ll be released from duties before his home match against Crystal Palace next weekend, but there may be enough defeats for him to go.
